At the Spring Festival, Chinese people eat jiaozi.
Jiaozi means good luck in the new year.
There is an old story about jiaozi. It is about Zhang Zhongjing, a famous Chinese doctor in the Eastern Han Dynasty.

One winter, it is cold and many people's ears are frozen. Zhang Zhongjing feels sad. He wants to cook some soup.
There is mutton, pepper and some herbs in the soup. After the soup is ready, he picks out these things, chops and wraps them with dough skin. This is Jiao'er, and is good to cure the frozen ears.

Later, to thank Zhang Zhongjing, people make New Year's food like Jiao'er on Chinese New Year's Eve, and they call it jiaozi.
