Yang Liwei is the first Chinese astronaut to enter space. He was born in Huludao, Liaoning Province in 1965. He showed a great interest in flying at an early age. He dreamed of flying in the blue sky like a seagull one day when he was young.
From 1983 to 1987, he studied in Aviation University of Air Force. After graduating from college, he served as a pilot in the Air Force of the CPLA. In 1998, he and other 13 pilots became the first Chinese astronauts.
In 2003, Yang took Shenzhou V and entered space. After flying for around 21 hours, he landed on the Earth successfully.
