In recent years, a larger number of pets have become people's family members and friends. People are now using technologies to take care of their pets such as wearing tech devices. As a result, people can track(追踪)and monitor(监控)their pets well.
"People don't know how much exercise or food their dog needs and that's where the wearable monitoring device comes in," says CEO of PitPat, Andrew Nowell. Between 2021 and 2022, this UK company of a pet tracking device for dogs sold about 39% more of its products to other countries. At the same time, the number of the UK pets jumped by about 10% to more than 9 million and a new type of pet owner appeared—the so-called Generation Y. They are happy to buy a wearable tech device, mainly wanting to know how far their pet has gone and what the dog is doing while they are separate.
The wearable tech business mainly consists(由······组成)of small companies. But this may change in the near future. "Many big companies are very interested. Some of them are planning to join the competition," said Asaf Dagan, the boss of another wearable-tech-device producer, PetPace. Some companies said that the business would be between $2.4 billion and $3.5 billion in the coming years.
"We need to help people have a better understanding of it," said Dagan. "We're sure that more pet parents will know about these trackers within a short time with our help. We believe that the value is there and the need is there. So, we are there."
Some people believe there are still some problems that companies will soon have to face, like high costs(费用)and safety problems. However, the future of the wearable tech devices for pets seems pretty exciting.
