The dragonfly(蜻蜓) is flying fast over the water. Dragonflies are flying insects with two pairs of wings. They come in many colours. Dragonflies can be green, blue, gold, or even pink.
Dragonflies always live close to water. Look at your closest river, pond, or lake. Maybe you can spot some dragonflies! They produce their eggs in or near water. The young dragonflies live in water for a year or more.
Adult dragonflies have the largest eyes of all the insects. Each eye has about thirty thousand small parts. They can see almost all the way around at once. Dragonflies are some of the fastest flying insects in the world. They can turn quickly in the air. They can fly forwards, backwards, and even upside down!
Dragonflies are amazing creatures. There are many different kinds of dragonflies in the world. People all over the world are starting to realize it! People in Japan built the world’s first dragonfly park in 1985. Today there are also dragonfly parks in Europe and the United States. The dragonfly park in Singapore has large statues(雕像) of dragonflies in the lake.
