Rainforests cover 6%—7% of the Earth's surface(表面). There are rainforests in many places of the world, but the biggest forests are in South America.
More than 50 percent of all the types of animals that we know live in rainforests. There are many beautiful birds, insects(昆虫) and so on. Many of them live in the trees over 30 metres high. There are also lots of different plants. Lots of them are tall trees! It is always hot and wet in the rainforests.
The rainforests are very important for us. We need them! The trees and other plants in the rainforests help make the air clean. The rainforests also help control(控制) the weather. They give us a lot of important things.
But in many places, the rainforests are in danger. If the rainforests disappear from the Earth, we may find no trees, flowers or fruits. What's more, we may get unclean air, and we may find no animals. It's time to take action(行动) to save the rainforests.
