Learning to Get Along
Two weeks ago, my classmate Kate and I had a big argument. We both wanted to be the leader of our group for the science project. Neither of us was willing to give in, and soon we stopped sitting together at lunch.
I felt unhappy, but I didn't know what to do. Then my mother told me, “A good friendship is more important than winning an argument. Why don't you try to understand her feelings?”
The next day, I invited Kate to have a talk after school. I told her that I valued our friendship and didn't want to lose it. To my surprise, Kate said she felt the same way. We decided to take turns being the group leader. Now we are good friends again, and our science project has won first prize in the school competition.
From this experience, I have learned that understanding and communication can solve most problems between friends.
