Bear's Winter Holiday
Where did you go?
Bear's Winter Holiday
Read and answer: What did Bear make for spring?
Bear lived in the wild woods. Winter came. He was getting ready for the long, cold winter. Winter was Bear's big holiday, because he would sleep all the winter. When he woke up in spring, he would need lots of food. He wanted to make some blueberry pies.
"Oh no!" cried Bear, "I have no berries. I must pick some more." Bear walked into the woods and tried to find more berries. But there were no berries near his den. He thought he would go deeper into the woods to look for berries. But he was hungry now.

As he walked, Bear met his friends Raccoon and Squirrel. "Good morning, Bear," said Raccoon. "Are you ready for your winter holiday?" "No, I am not!" Bear said. "I have run out of berries to make my spring pies." "Then take some apple pies. I made them with apples from the tree near my home," Raccoon said. "Those apples are too sour," said Bear. "Bears like sweet pies." "I have some walnuts. You can have some," said Squirrel. "Thank you," said Bear. "But I do not want nuts in my pies."
Bear said goodbye to his friends, and went back home. He was too hungry. He ate up all the pies and fell asleep. Bear slept for many months. When he woke up, he was hungry again. Raccoon and Squirrel knocked at the door and came in. "We thought you would like some pies," they said. When Bear opened his mouth to speak, Raccoon put some apple pies and walnut pies in Bear's mouth.

"Yum!" cried Bear.
