Last weekend, I took part in a volunteer activity at the community centre,
because I would like to do something helpful and it was an amazing experience.
In the morning, we were divided into several groups. My group's task was to help the old in the neighbourhood. We visited the old people's home. First, we cleaned their rooms, making sure everything was tidy and comfortable. Then, we sat down and had great conversations with them. They told us interesting stories about the past, and we shared with them the latest news and our daily lives. Their smiles made me feel really warm inside.
After lunch, we organized a small concert for them. Some of us sang beautiful songs, and others played musical instruments. The elderly people were so excited and joined in by clapping their hands.
Through this activity, I gained a lot. I learned the importance of caring for the old. They have rich life experiences and need our company. I also made new friends during the activity. We worked together and had a lot of fun. It really was a meaningful weekend.
