It was early winter several years ago. (1) It was still in pretty good shape after so many winters' wear. I didn't really need a new one but I wanted one. So I casually (不经意地) mentioned (说起) it to my daughter one day. She is such a sweet, loving soul that I should have guessed what would happen next. A few weeks later, she gave me a bright red, brand new, winter's coat.
I put the old one in my closet (壁橱) and started to wear the new coat every day.
