An Weizhi, an old man from Minghua Township, Gansu Province, is in his seventies. As a book lover, An started reading from a young age. He always took a book with him, even when he went out to work.

The book house is popular with readers of different ages. An feels very happy to help them read. Many children who visit the book house get into the habit of reading. An never locks the door of the book house, so they can come in and read anytime. He is glad that some children keep on reading until they go to university. He also tries to get more children's books into his collection.
Now, the book house has over 16,000 books and serves more than 1,000 villagers from seven nearby villages. An really makes a difference to the villagers' lives. “I always believe that reading brings wisdom and prosperity(智慧与繁荣),” said An.
