Bad-luck day

Tia has a day that she would never forget!

Everyone in her family is getting ready for work or
school. But not Tia—her alarm clock doesn't
work. When she wakes up, she puts on her
clothes and walks outside just in time to see
the school bus driving away. "Great, just
great," says Tia. "It is a real bad-luck day." Tia starts walking to school.
When she gets to school, Tia opens her schoolbag. Her lunch and her
homework are missing. All the kids hand in(上交) their homework—but not
Tia.
In the lunchroom, Tia buys a sandwich. But

she doesn't see the milk on the floor. She slips
and falls down. Her sandwich falls right into the
milk on the ground.
Back in class, everyone else is reading—
but not Tia. She is hungry, so she searches her
schoolbag for something to eat. Tia finds a
chocolate. Finally, some good luck! Then
someone is standing behind her. The teacher is angry and takes her chocolate
away.
When Tia gets home, she runs to her room
and closes the door. "I'll just stay here for the

rest of the day," she tells the dog. Then she calls
her friend Benny and tells her all the bad things
today.
"I feel better talking to you," says Tia. "I
think my bad luck finally stops. What do you
think, Benny?... Hello? Benny?"
