Have you ever heard of a library carried by burros (驴子)? *Waiting for the Biblioburro* (《等待驴子图书馆》) tells such a wonderful story!
There's a little girl named Ana. She lives in a small village and loves reading so much. She spends all her free time reading—either alone or with her younger brother. But she only has one book, so she makes up her own stories for her brother to help him fall asleep at night. She really wishes to read new stories.
One morning, she sees a man outside her house, with a sign reading "Biblioburro". With the man, there are two burros carrying books. That's an amazing moving library, and Biblioburro is its name. The man is the librarian. He and his burros travel over mountains and through valleys, bringing books to rural Colombia. Besides bringing books, the librarian also reads stories to the children and teaches younger kids the alphabet (字母表). Ana is very excited. She even writes her own story about the moving library and gives it to the librarian. And guess what? The librarian adds it to his Biblioburro collection—so Ana's story can travel with the burros, too!
Monica Brown writes this sweet story, and John Parra's colourful pictures make it even more lively. It's not just about books; it's about bringing knowledge and joy to kids in rural areas.
