Lying down on the ice
to fetch carp(鲤鱼)

During the Jin Dynasty, there was a young boy named Wang Xiang.
His stepmother, however, was a bad-tempered(坏脾气的) woman. She was not kind to Wang Xiang. But Wang Xiang still took good care of her.
One winter it was very cold and snow fell for many days. Wang Xiang's stepmother was sick. She wanted fresh carp for better food.
It was still snowing and the rivers froze(结冰) solid with ice. Where could fresh carp be found?

Wang Xiang walked to the creek(小溪) to see what he could do. He looked and looked, but found no running water. Tired and disappointed(失望的), he sat down on the ice and cried.
An idea came to him as he cried. He took off his clothes, and lay down on the ice. His body heat(热量) and the tears(眼泪) melted(融化) a hole in the ice. Two carp leaped up(跃起) out of the crack(裂缝) in the ice. Wang Xiang caught them and carried them home.
Seeing the two fresh carp, Wang Xiang's stepmother felt ashamed(羞愧的). Later she became a kind person.

晋朝时,有一个小伙子名叫王祥。
不过,他有一个坏脾气的继母,对他也很不好。但王祥依旧好好地照顾她。
一年冬天,天气很冷,下了许多天的雪。王祥的继母生病了,想吃新鲜的鲤鱼改善伙食。
天还在下雪,河面结着坚冰,到哪里去找新鲜的鲤鱼呢?
王祥走到了小溪边,想看看自己能做些什么。他看了又看,但是找不到流动的活水。他又疲惫又失望,坐在冰上哭了起来。
哭着哭着,他想到了一个好主意。他脱下衣服,躺在冰面上。他身体的热量和眼泪在冰上融化出了一个洞。两条鲤鱼从冰的裂缝中跃起,王祥抓住鲤鱼把它们带回了家。
看到两条新鲜的鲤鱼,王祥的继母十分羞愧。后来她变成了一个友善的人。
