There are also very small living creatures, and some of them, such as bacteria(细菌), are so small that you can't even see them. They are not part of any of the three levels. They are called decomposers(分解者). After a living creature dies, they break down its body and turn it into nutrients(营养物质) for new plants to grow.
We can imagine these three levels in the ocean too. Small sea plants use sunlight to make food. Then small sea animals eat these sea plants. Bigger sea animals eat these small sea animals. For example, a small fish eats sea plants, and then a shark eats the small fish. So energy moves between living creatures in the ocean just like it does on land.
