It was the capital for 6 major dynasties (known as the Six Dynasties) including the Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms and Eastern Jin, and the Song, Qi, Liang and Chen during the Southern Dynasties period from the 3rd century to the 6th century AD. It had beautiful palaces and temples. There were many traditional streets and houses. People lived a quiet and wonderful life here. It was a city with a rich history and great beauty. Now, busy Nanjing mixes pretty old views with modern tall new buildings. It is becoming a national tech hub(枢纽) and attracts millions of tourists every year.
