Mei and Chinese Paper-cut
In Anhui, there lives a girl, Mei. She loves making paper-cuts. Her grandmother is her teacher.
"You can use many shapes in paper-cuts," Grandma says. "Circles can be the sun or the moon. Triangles can be mountains（大山）. Rectangles can be houses. Squares can be doors."
Mei learns to cut paper with scissors. She makes paper-cuts of plants, animals and people. One day, Mei makes a paper-cut of a fish. She uses circles for the eyes and triangles for the fins(鱼鳍). She gives it to her grandmother as a gift. Grandma is very happy.
As Mei grows older, her paper-cuts become more and more beautiful. She says, "Paper-cutting is not just art. It is a way to share our culture(文化)."
