阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
Zebra crossings are an important part of city traffic. They serve as safety lines for people crossing the street and a symbol of a city’s culture. However, in recent years, most people have been used to using phones while crossing the street. It is unsafe and it may slow down traffic.
To deal with the problem, the Star City government started to take action and introduced a new rule in April, 2024. According to the rule, if people use phones while crossing the street, they may face a fifty-yuan fine. If they don’t want to pay, they can choose to stand by the zebra cross-ings for an hour as a traffic guide. To increase public understanding of the new rule, the govern-ment also puts up posters at bus stops and on websites.
According to the number showed by the gov-
ernment, more than 20% of the traffic accidents in Star City last year happened on zebra crossings. The city hopes the new rule can help to cut down that number. “It is important to correct wrong behaviour on the road. Both drivers and walkers will benefit from it,” an officer says.
