Weekly film review
War Horse, directed by Steven Spielberg
This week’s film is about the friendship between a horse and a young man during the First World War. The story starts in England, with a teenage boy called Albert and a young horse. Albert trains him and they become close friends. He calls the horse “Joey”. Later his father has no money and has to sell Joey. A soldier buys him and takes him to war.
The story then follows Joey and Albert through World War I. Joey is captured (擒获) by the Germans, and is put to work to help them. After one battle (战役), many men and horses are killed. Joey breaks free and once again ends up in English hands. However, the horse is injured (受伤), so they want to kill him. Albert has been injured too, and is now blind. As they are going to kill Joey, Joey hears Albert’s voice and is saved. The film is very moving. The clothes look like clothes from the time, and the parts from the war look very real. All the actors are very good, but the horse is the best of them all!
It is quite a long film, but it is not boring. You should watch it.
