Farming future now
Are drones only used for shooting fancy videos? They are also used by farmers to watch crops, find pests(害虫), and make sure that water is used properly. Besides, powered by China’s Beidou Navigation Satellite System, over 5,000 drones in Xinjiang spread seeds, fertilizer and pesticides(化肥和农药) faster than humans.
Pompeii, an ancient city in Italy, got a new protector—a dog named Spot. It is a four-legged robot with cameras and sensors(传感器). It's able to map the environment around, sense and avoid obstacles(障碍物), climb stairs and open doors. Spot will go around Pompeii at night and examine tunnels dug by thieves, which are too dangerous for people to enter.
Secret swimmers
A bionic(仿生的) robot shark showed up in Shanghai. The 4.7-metre-long "shark" with mechanical fins(机械鳍) can swim fast into the deep water like a real shark. Bionic fish like this are not just for pleasing visitors. The bionic shark, for example, is fitted with different sensors to check water quality and take photos of underwater animals and plants.
