There were many great travellers a long time ago. People still love their stories today. They told us many interesting things about the world.
Zhang Qian was a famous traveller. In 138 BC(公元前), he went from Chang'an (today's Xi'an) to the west. He crossed huge deserts and climbed over high mountains. He learnt about new cultures and helped open the Silk Road.
Marco Polo was also famous for his travel. He was one of the first Europeans(欧洲人) to come to China. He arrived(到达) in 1275 and stayed for 17 years. He wrote a book about his interesting life in China.
These brave men helped people know more about the world. They are true heroes!
