How to Deal with Common Health Problems
As a middle school student, you may face some common health problems. Knowing how to deal with them can help you stay healthy. Here are some tips for you.
1. Headache
Headaches often happen when you study too long or stay up late. If you have a headache, you should stop studying and rest for 15 to 20 minutes. You could also close your eyes and gently massage your temples. Drinking a glass of warm water or having a small snack may also help. If your headache lasts for more than a day, you should see a doctor.
2. Stomachache
Eating too much fast food, drinking cold drinks, or feeling stressed can cause a stomachache. When you have a stomachache, you should lie down and put a warm towel on your stomach. You shouldn't eat any cold or spicy food. Drinking some warm ginger tea can help calm your stomach. If the pain doesn't go away in a few hours, ask your parents to take you to the doctor.
3. Cut
If you cut your finger with a knife or scissors, don't panic. First, wash the cut with clean water to remove dirt. Then, dry it gently with a clean towel. Next, apply some medicine to the cut and cover it with a bandage. If the cut is deep and bleeds a lot, you should go to the hospital at once.
4. Nosebleed
Nosebleeds usually happen when the air is dry or you pick your nose. When your nose bleeds, sit up straight and tilt (倾斜) your head forward slightly. Don't lie down or tilt your head back—this can make the blood go into your throat. Press down on the sides of your nose for 5 to 10 minutes. The bleeding will stop soon.
Remember, taking care of yourself is the first step to staying healthy. If you have any health problems, don't be afraid to ask for help from your parents or teachers.
