One morning, Dad asked me to drive him to a village. I promised(承诺) to pick him up at 4:00 p.m. And I told him I would park(停) my car in front of a shop nearby. It was a long time to wait, so I went to a theatre. But I fell asleep at the theatre. When I woke up, it was already dark!
I guessed Dad would be angry if he knew that. When I met him, I said sorry for being late. I told him that the car had some problems.
“You lied to me, Jason,” Dad looked at me disappointedly(失望地). “When I didn’t see you, I asked the shopkeeper. He told me that you arrived there early and left the car there all the afternoon.”
I felt sorry and I told him the truth(事实). After hearing what I said, Dad said, “I’m not a good father. I’m going to walk home. I’ll think about why you lied to me.”
“But Dad, it’s 18 miles!” I said. But whatever I said to him, he still walked home sadly that day. That was a special day for me. I learnt an important lesson. From then on, I never lied to anyone.
