bowling ball back. But now, the pins
can be set automatically.
Lamplighter
A lamplighter's job is to light the

gas street lamps in the evening. They
use a pole to do this. Some have
to climb up the lamp. Early in the
morning, they come back to put the
light out. The job is lost when electric
street lights come into use.
Town crier

Town criers are popular in many
parts of the US. They shout to tell big
news because there are no radios, TVs
or the internet then.
