After reading Auggie's story，I'm really touched. To me, "Sometimes people surprise us" means others may show unexpected kindness or courage beyond our first impression. Auggie was once laughed at, but his classmates finally stood by him, which surprised me deeply.
In my life, there was a quiet classmate. I thought he was cold. One day, I fell and hurt my knee. He carried me to the nurse's office and helped me with homework later. His warmth surprised me a lot.
This tells me not to judge people by first sight. Everyone has a kind heart. We should be open and give others chances to show their true selves.
