As the only child of the White family, 14-year-old George has no brothers or sisters. "I hope to have a brother or sister," he always says to his parents.
"Maybe someday," answer his parents Mr and Mrs White.
One day, George says to his grandma, "I hope to have a brother or a sister."
Grandma says, "Maybe you can sponsor a child."
"What does that mean?" asks George.
"Well, you can use your pocket money(零花钱) to help a child in a poor country. Your money will help him or her buy food or clothes,and go to school," says Grandma. "Then you have a brother or a sister."
George likes this idea. With the help of Grandma, he writes a letter to "Sponsor a Child". On 24th February, he gets a letter back. Inside is a picture of a 12-year-old boy named Niawat. He lives in Uganda,an African country.
George often shows the picture to his classmates and says, "This is my brother." Now the two boys often write to each other.
