Students do not always feel good at school. That is why some schools in the US state of Pennsylvania have special rooms to help them feel better.
The Chill Room(休息室) is one such place. These rooms are very comfortable and nature-themed(以自然为主题的). Students can use them thanks to the AHN Chill Project. It started in 2019.
Each room has an underlined educator. He or she teaches students how to calm down. A clinician(临床医师) is also there to talk with students and offer underlined medical help. The room has a seating area designed to look like an empty tree in the middle. About 10 students can use the room at the same time.
A sixth grader named Kerns said the room helped her when she was underlined bullied. She said she underlined to hate going to school. But now she feels much better.
Project director William Davies started the project after seeing school underlined tragedies, PublicSource reported. He felt that traditional mental health services(心理健康服务) at schools often only helped after a underlined crisis. So he teamed up with Highmark Health to make the Chill Project possible.
