Zoos are often favourite places for parents with kids. However, they also win the
hearts of young people. "Zoo walk" has become a popular activity among young Chinese
people.
These days, zoos from the whole country have welcomed a larger number of daily
visitors. The top places include Beijing Wildlife Park, Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo,
Shanghai Wild Animal Park and Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park. Each zoo's related
hashtag(话题标签) got over millions of views online, and the hashtag "zoo" reached
about 2 billion views.
Animal stars are a main reason for young people's visiting. Many zoos are recording
interesting videos of their animals and sharing them on social media. Some of these
animals become quite popular. At Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo, for example, a white-
faced monkey named Dudu, famous for its ugly appearance but good character, became
a local attraction.
Shen Zhijun, director of the zoo, believes zoos like Hongshan are getting popular
among young people. The reason is that they provide a sense of relaxation. Today's young
people are ready to be close to nature and animals. Modern zoos offer them a space to
relax and leave the stress of life behind.
The trend of the "zoo walk" has taken the young people of China by storm. Zoos are
getting creative, introducing movie nights, live music, and art shows to make visits more
