C
Mr Chen: What a beautiful chrysanthemum(菊花)! Your
work?
Meimei: Yes, Mr Chen. They're often for mourning(哀悼),
so they can create sadness in my picture.
Mr Chen: Interesting! But in our culture, it was not always
a flower for mourning. Ancient Chinese found it thousands of
years ago and it meant long life and good luck then.
Meimei: So, it was not about death before?
Mr Chen: Not in Chinese culture. In ancient China, people
loved enjoying it at the Double Ninth Festival. Many poets also
wrote poems about it. But in Europe, around 1789, people grew
them to mourn the dead.
Meimei: So it's not a Chinese thing?
Mr Chen: Sure. An Italian musician, Puccini, wrote
Crisantemi(Chrysanthemums) for a friend's death, which made
the flower together with mourning. Lots of people learned about
this by listening to Crisantemi. In a war, people used it to show
respect to the dead soldiers. In the 1960s, chrysanthemums
became the mourning flowers in Asia, including our country. In
the early 2000s, Chinese mostly bought them for mourning.
Meimei: What a pity that we forget its real meaning in our
culture!
Mr Chen: Not exactly so. Today, some scholars(学者) have
learnt about the real meaning in ancient books and records. They
are trying their best to tell people the truth, especially to the
young. Last autumn, our city held a "Chongyang Chrysanthemum
Festival" to bring our traditional culture back and pass it on.
Meimei: Sounds great! I can't wait to celebrate it this year.

Ancient Chinese found it thousands of years ago and it meant long life and good luck then",可以直接得知古代中国菊花的含义是长寿和好运,对应C选项,排除其余选项。
But in Europe, around 1789, people grew them to mourn the dead"的描述,可知欧洲人大约在1789年开始用菊花悼念逝者,对应C选项。
28.B 29.C 30.C 31.C 32.D
