Feeding wild animals may sound fun, but you should never do it.
In a new study, US scientists studied many wild male elephants. Over a period of more than 15 years, nine to fifteen percent of male elephants in a park in Sri Lanka got into the habit of begging for food. As time went by, they forgot how to find food by themselves.

Also, for wild animals, our food, like bread and chips, usually has too much sugar and fat. In the study, an elephant called Rambo had health problems for many years. Scientists think it was because of eating too much sugary food from people.
Feeding wildlife can be dangerous for people, too. Animals may get angry about not getting any food. For example, in Thailand, elephants often stop cars on the road and ask for sweet things. They break into farms sometimes and hurt plants and people.

Besides never feeding wild animals, you can do more as a good wildlife tourist. Here are some tips from a magazine. First, don't leave rubbish like plastic bags or bottles. Maybe animals die from eating these things. Second, learn from local people. They usually know more about the wildlife in the area. Third, never go to animal shows. People often take these animals back from the wild and treat them badly, so don't take part in activities like riding elephants.
