In China, it's common for everyone to share dishes from the same plate. But in England, people usually have their own servings.
The eating tools are also different. In China, chopsticks are mainly used, but in England, knives and forks are common. Seeing Mike having trouble with his chopsticks, Joe patiently taught him how to use them. What's more, he also started serving Mike food, which is a sign of being polite and friendly in China, but not a common practice in England.
During the dinner, Mike rested his elbows on the table while eating. But Joe told him it's not proper to do so in China. While in England, it might not be a strict rule. Also, in China, it's important not to eat too fast or too much at once. But in England, the way of eating can be different.
