（原创）Fast fashion is destroying the Earth with its carbon footprint(碳足迹). It is widely known nowadays. So how can we, as consumers(消费者), lower our fashion footprint to protect the Earth?
One easy answer is to buy less. Another way is to buy more sustainable(可持续的) clothes made with something organic and recycled. This kind of clothing can be used for a long time. But buying second-hand clothes may be the easiest answer and a trend(趋势) that is growing fast.
According to the Boston Consulting Group, second-hand clothes will make up 27% of consumers' closets by 2025. By 2030, the second-hand clothing market will be twice the size of fast fashion, according to a global report by ThredUp and GlobalData. So it seems that the second-hand clothing market will grow fast in the next ten years. One of the reasons is that we now have more choices(选择) about buying clothes. For example, we can easily both buy and sell pre-loved things on the internet rather than buy only from charity shops or jumble sales.
The changes of people's understanding and thinking of pre-loved clothing also help that. Dr Amna Khan, the senior lecturer in consumer behaviours and retail at Manchester Metropolitan University, said that wearing second-hand clothes is now a trend. It no longer happens only when you have little money to buy anything else. The change in consumers can even be seen in celebrity culture.
