When people travel in Beijing, the Summer Palace is a must-see. It's the largest royal（皇家的）garden in China.
The Summer Palace is in the northwest of Beijing. It's about 15 kilometers from the city center. It covers 2.9 square kilometers mainly with Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill. The area of Kunming Lake is about two-thirds of the whole area. There are many hills around the lake. Longevity Hill is about 60 meters high. The Summer Palace was once a place for the emperors to relax. The emperors and their family came to the garden during hot summers. They could enjoy nature, drink tea and listen to music there. The design of the Summer Palace combines（结合）nature and human culture. The designers put the buildings, bridges and mountains in an order to show the idea of harmony（和谐）between nature and humans. This special design makes the Summer Palace become a model of royal gardens. It's a great place to enjoy nature and experience life of the emperors.
