C
Once upon a time, the animals started a school. Their subjects were running, climbing and swimming. To make it easier to manage(管理), the school had all the animals take all the subjects.
The duck was good at swimming, in fact better than her teacher, but she was very poor at running. Because she was slow in running, she had to stay after school and also give up swimming in order to practise running. She went on practising running until her feet were badly hurt. Finally, she didn't pass the running exam and was only average(平均水平) in swimming. But average was OK in the school, so nobody worried about that except the duck herself.
The rabbit was at the top of the class in running, but felt very nervous in the swimming class. Later, he had to leave school because he failed(不及格) the swimming exam again and again.
The eagle(鹰) was a problem child and a little self-centred(自我的). In the climbing class he could beat(击败) all the others to the top of the tree, but he insisted on(坚持) using his own way to get there. Because of this, he got a "C" in climbing.
In the end, a little eel(鳗鱼) that could swim very well, and could also run and climb a little, had the highest scores and became the pride of the school.

12. C。根据文章中的“Because she was slow in running, she had to stay after school and also give up swimming in order to practise running.”
13. B。根据文章中的“Later, he had to leave school because he failed(不及格) the swimming exam again and again.”
14. A。根据文章中的“In the end, a little eel(鳗鱼) that could swim very well, and could also run and climb a little, had the highest scores and became the pride of the school.”
