The Six-Chi Lane(六尺巷)
In Tongcheng, Anhui, there is a famous narrow lane called "Liu Chi Xiang (Six-Chi Lane)".
Its story began in the Qing Dynasty when two families, the Zhangs and the Wus, argued(争吵) over a wall be-tween their homes.
The Zhangs wrote to their relative, a high official(官员), for help. He replied (回复) with a poem asking them to give up three chi (about one meter) of land. Moved by his words, the Zhangs did so. The Wus, touched by their kindness, also gave up three chi. This created a six-chi-wide lane.
Today, the lane still exists (存在), reminding people that kindness inspires kindness.
