2026年英语听力听说读写能力培养九年级下册第149页答案
(D)
Every afternoon after school, the children played in the Giant's beautiful garden, where birds sang and flowers bloomed (绽放). "How happy we are here! " they cried.
One day, the Giant returned after visiting his friend. When he saw the children playing in his garden, he angrily ordered them to leave, saying, "This is my garden, and nobody else can be here. " He then built a high wall around it and put up a sign that read, "Do Not Enter! "
Without the children, the garden fell into endless coldness. "I cannot understand why the Spring is so late in coming," said the Giant, looking out at his cold white garden, "I hope there will be a change in the weather. "
But the Spring never came, nor the Summer. The Autumn gave golden fruit to every garden, but to the Giant's garden she gave none.
One morning the Giant heard some lovely music. Immediately he jumped out of bed and looked out, seeing children sneaking (偷溜) back through a hole in the wall. The birds were flying with pleasure, and the flowers were looking up and laughing.
And the Giant's heart softened. "How selfish I have been! " he said. "Now I know why the Spring would not come here, I will knock down the wall, and my garden shall be the children's playground for ever and ever. "
Every afternoon, when school was over, the children came and played with the Giant. The garden was full of life, love and laughter once again.

Do you remember the days when you had to look up words in a big, heavy dictionary on your bookshelf? Well, those days are almost over. But don't be sad! Because we all have our own special "dictionary" that we carry with us all the time. 76.
C
It's the one in our minds.
Our mental (心理的) dictionary is a lot like a regular (常规的) dictionary. 77.
A
It knows what letters are in a word, how to say it, and what it means. It knows if a word is a noun (名词), a verb (动词) or something else. And it can also tell us how to put words together to make good sentences.

If you and someone else speak the same language, some of the words in your mental dictionaries might be the same. 79.
B
We add new words to our mental dictionary from going to school, having a job, learning about different cultures and all the other things we do in life. 80.
E
Scientists found that a 20-year-old who speaks American English usually knows about 42,000 different words. By the time they're 60, they might know around 48,000 words.
Remember, the words you say and the mental dictionary you have are what make you special and different from everyone else.
