B
Lily always loves animals, but she never has a pet of her own. Her uncle gives her a small white rabbit as a birthday gift. Lily names him Snowball because his fur is as white as snow.
At first, Lily doesn't know how to care for Snowball. She is worried she might do something wrong. Every morning, Lily gets up early to feed Snowball fresh carrots and cabbages. She cleans his cage carefully to keep him healthy. On weekends, she takes Snowball out to the garden to run around. At first, Snowball is shy and stays close to Lily. But as time goes by, he becomes more active. He always jumps around Lily's feet and even lets her hold him in her arms.
One rainy day, Lily comes home from school and finds Snowball lying quietly in his cage. He doesn't eat his favourite carrots. Lily feels worried and tells her mum. Together, they take Snowball to hospital. The doctor says Snowball has a cold and gives him some medicine. For the next few days, Lily looks after Snowball day and night. She feeds him warm water and soft food. Slowly, Snowball gets better. After that, their friendship grows stronger.
Now, Snowball is more than a pet to Lily. He is her best friend. When Lily feels sad, she talks to Snowball. He sits quietly beside her as if he understands. Lily learns a lot from caring for Snowball: responsibility, patience(耐心), and love. She knows that animals need not just food and shelter, but also care and attention. They can be our most fantastic friends if we treat them well.
