Ⅱ. Read the passage and complete the following tasks.
Nature keeps its secrets inside the yellow soil*, waiting to be discovered. One geologist made his life's work to understand these secrets. He spent his life reading the earth's history written in the soil. For over sixty years, he explored China to study the land. This person was Liu Dongsheng.

Through his life, Professor* Liu worked hard to research the yellow soil. It covers much of the north part of China. He discovered how this soil could tell us about Earth's climate history. To do his research, he travelled through dangerous areas and tough landscapes. He even climbed mountains over 8,000 metres high. These places are difficult for us to live in. Even in his seventies, he went to the high mountains of Tibet. When his eyesight grew weak, he used a magnifier to continue his work for many years.
Despite his success, Liu always remained humble. He won China's Top Science and Technology Award in 2003, but he seldom talked about it. He believed the honour belonged to his whole team, and he was just doing his job.
The yellow soil patiently records Earth's history, and Liu Dongsheng worked with the same patience. He passed away at the age of 91. At his funeral, instead of sad music, people heard the powerful Yellow River Cantata — his favorite music. The music seemed to tell the story of how this great scientist read Earth's secrets and showed his deep love for the land.
