Two Friends and a Bear
One day, two young men are going through the forest. One says to the other, "We're good friends. We must help each other. If any animal comes at you, I'll stay with you and help you." The other friend says, "I will help you too, if any animal comes at you."
After a while, there comes a big bear. One of the young men gets up into a tree. But the other is fat and can not climb up. So he lies at the foot of the tree and thinks to himself, "The bear will think I am dead."
Soon the bear comes near. The bear looks at the fat young man. Then it puts its nose down and smells him. The young man holds his breath. The bear thinks he is dead, so it goes away.
The man in the tree comes down. With a smile he asks his friend, "The bear puts its mouth so near to your ear. What does it say to you?"
The friend answers, "The bear says, 'The man in the tree isn't your friend. He runs away from you when you need his help. Remember: A friend in need is a friend indeed.' "
( ) They are good friends indeed.
( ) The bear eats the fat young man.
( √ ) It's said that the bear doesn't eat any dead man.

(2) 第一处画线句:“If any animal comes at you, I'll stay with you and help you.” 中,“if”表“如果”,“any animal”是“任何动物”,“comes at you”为“袭击你”,“stay with you”是“和你待在一起”,“help you”是“帮助你”,整合翻译。第二处画线句:“The bear thinks he is dead, so it goes away.” 中,“thinks he is dead”是“认为他死了”,“so”表“所以”,“goes away”是“走开”,整合翻译。第三处画线句:“A friend in need is a friend indeed.”
