Famous clocks around the world
There are many famous clocks in the world. Two of them are very special: Big Ben in London and the Prague Astronomical Clock (布拉格天文钟).
Big Ben is in London. It stands by the River Thames (泰晤士河). It has a vey big clock face. The clock hands are very long. Every 15 minutes, it rings loudly. People far away can hear it. It has told the time correctly for a long time. It shows the time very clearly. This helps people know when to go to work, when to have a rest and when to go home. It is like a timekeeper for the city.
The Prague Astronomical Clock is in Prague. It is very beautiful and unique. It has an astronomical dial (天文表盘). When the hour comes, there is a great show. Small figures (雕像) come out and move. It not only tells the time, but also shows how the sun, the moon and stars move. It helps people understand how time and the universe (宇宙) are connected (联系的).
These two clocks are not just about telling time. They are symbols of their cities. They see the changes of history and connect people’s lives with time. They remind (提醒) us that time is precious (珍贵的). We should cherish every minute.
