Toad threw himself on the floor of the jail(监狱).
"This is the end," cried Toad, "I will be here forever. Why didn't I listen to Rat and Mole? "
The jailer's kind daughter brought Toad his meals. "Leave me alone! " Toad yelled. He cried by himself for the rest of the night.
The next morning, Toad was hungry, "Things aren't so bad,"Toad finally cheered up. "Crying without food won't help me. "
When the jailer's daughter knocked again with some tea and toast, Toad happily ate the girl's meals and talked to her about his home, Toad Hall, and his friends. The jailer's daughter visited every morning. She enjoyed her friendship with Toad.
One morning, the girl came to Toad's room as usual. "Toad," she said with a serious look, "Do you want to get out of here? "
In her plan, Toad would dress like her wash - woman aunt! At first, Toad refused, "Me? Wear a dress? "but soon agreed.
That night, the jailer's daughter returned with her aunt. The aunt carried a big bag with old dress, an apron and a bonnet (围裙和头巾) inside. Toad gave her four gold coins.
"Now you must tie me up," said the wash - woman, "And people will think you did it. I don't want them to know I helped you. ""What a wonderful idea! " said Toad. "You are a very clever woman. Everyone will think I'm dangerous!"After tying up the wash - woman, Toad changed into an old lady! Heart beating fast, he walked past guards who kindly opened gates for the "hard working wash - woman". Toad was free!
