Li Tao was a quiet boy. When he was 13 years old, he lived in a small village with his grandparents. He loved drawing pictures, but he found it hard to make progress. So he asked his grandpa, Mr Li, for help.
The next morning, Mr Li took Li Tao to the hill behind their house. They planted a small young tree together. But soon Li Tao felt bored and wanted to stop. His grandpa smiled and told him a story about himself.
When Mr Li was a child, he loved writing calligraphy, but his hands always shook and he couldn't write well. He didn't give up. He practised a little every day, even on cold winter mornings. Years later, he became good at calligraphy and his works were famous in the village.
Li Tao looked at the young tree and understood. From then on, he practised drawing for 30 minutes every day, trying to improve a little each time.
