My mom works with a Canadian man called Jim. Last year, Jim got married to a wonderful lady, Carol. My mom, dad and I were invited to the wedding (婚礼) and I was so excited! 1

"You're supposed to wear something nice, not jeans or sports shoes! Oh, and don't wear white! 2 "
I had to buy a gift for Jim and Carol, too. I asked my dad what I should give them.
"Well, you're not supposed to give money. Buy something small and pretty for their home, or something useful for the kitchen."
On the wedding day, I wore a green dress. 3 Lots of women wore hats, the men were all in suits and everyone looked great.
Carol arrived in a beautiful long white dress, holding pink and white flowers. The ceremony (典礼) was about 20 minutes long. Then Jim and Carol started to leave the room, walking past all their guests.
"What am I supposed to do when they walk past?" I asked my mom.
" 4 " my mom said.
After the ceremony, there was dinner provided and later in the evening there was dancing. The first song was one of my favorites. I got up to dance, but my dad quickly stopped me.
"Wait!" he said, "You're not supposed to dance yet! 5 "
I was so embarrassed, but my dad was right; it was as if the song told their story and you could sense their excitement about the future in the way they danced. It was so romantic (浪漫的), especially when they ended the first dance with a kiss!
