2026年名师面对面学科素养评价九年级英语上册人教版第15页答案
五、阅读理解。
In February, 1950, Hua Luogeng, a famous Chinese mathematician, wrote an open letter to all Chinese students studying in the US. The letter moved many people and reflected the strong patriotism(爱国精神)of many overseas Chinese scientists who were eager to return to their homeland.
The documentary Return tells the story of many scientists who decided to go back to China in the 1950s. In Hua's case, many people didn't know how important his work was in the early development of computer science in China. In 1950, Hua resigned(辞职)from his tenured professorship at the University of Illinois and returned to China. At a time when few people knew about computer science, Hua already understood its potential for scientific progress. In 1952, he became the director of the Institute of Mathematics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and later set up China's first computer research team. Li Zheng, the documentary's director, said Hua's story moved him. "Hua was more than just a mathematician. He had big ideas and was very brave, especially for his time."
Talking about the influence of Return on young people, Li said, "I hope teenagers will learn more about history from this documentary and be inspired by the spirit of these scientists. Today's young people live in a well-off society, but they must never forget the contributions of those who came before them."
