Mrs Carter was getting ready to go out. Her son, Ben, just finished his bath and left the bathroom floor wet. As she hurried into the bathroom to get her comb(梳子), her foot slipped on the wet floor. With a sharp cry, she fell against the tub(浴缸), holding her foot in pain.
Ben heard the noise and ran to the bathroom. “Mum! Are you okay?” he called out, sounding worried.
“I think I hurt my foot,” Mrs Carter said with a painful look. “The floor is too wet.”
Ben quickly brought a cloth and dried the floor. Then he helped his mother stand up and walk to the living room. After helping her sit down, he put a cold pack(冷敷袋) on her injured foot.
“This could be much worse,” Mrs Carter said later, with her foot on a soft pillow. “I was moving too fast and didn’t notice the wet floor.”
“You always tell me to dry the floor after bathing and use the bath mat(浴垫),” Ben said, feeling sorry. “I’m sorry I forgot this time.”
“We both learned something important today,” Mrs Carter said kindly. “Being safe means maintaining(保持) good habits every day, not just practising them sometimes.”
The next day, Ben went to the shop and bought a non-slip(防滑的) bath mat. He put it right next to the tub so that such accidents would not happen again.
