Qingming Festival

As one of the four great traditional Chinese festivals, Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day or Pure Brightness Festival, is a festival to sweep tombs(坟墓) and pay respect(尊敬) to the ancestors(祖先).
Legend(传说) has it that the festival started from the Cold Food Festival or Hanshi Festival. During Hanshi Festival, fire was not allowed(被禁止). People could only eat cold food. So it was not healthy for them. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Qingming Festival replaced(替代) the Cold Food Festival completely.
Sweeping tombs and remembering the ancestors are two important customs during Qingming Festival. On that day, people go to the tombs, set out offerings(祭品), and kowtow(叩头) to show respect to their ancestors.
Qingming is also one of the 24 Solar Terms(节气) in Chinese calendar, falling on one day between the fourth and sixth of April every year. It gets warmer and it is a good time to sow(播种) plants in spring. Also, Chinese people like going out to enjoy spring sunshine and beautiful scenery(风景).

作为中国四大传统节日之一，清明节，也叫祭祖节、行清节，是扫墓祭祖的节日。
传说这个节日起源于寒食节。在寒食节期间，人们禁止生火，只能吃冷的食物，这对健康不利。到了南宋时期，清明节就完全取代了寒食节。
扫墓和祭祖是清明节期间很重要的两项习俗。那天，人们来到墓前，摆好祭品，叩头跪拜，以显示对祖先的尊敬。
清明也是中国日历上的二十四节气之一，时间为每年4月4日至6日中的一天。由于天气变暖，是春季播种的好时节。同时，中国人喜欢（在这个时候）外出享受春天的阳光和美景。
