Today, we’ll talk about a beautiful city named Nanchong. It’s in the north - east of Sichuan Province. In the city, there are many places of interest. Now I’ll introduce three of them: Beihu Park, the Jialing River and the West Mountain.
There is a large and beautiful lake in Beihu Park. It’s like a mirror(镜子).(1) We can also enjoy the natural beauty there. On the small islands surrounded(环绕)by the lake, there are different kinds of flowers and trees. It’s wonderful to take a walk and have a rest under the tree.
(2) It’s called the “mother river” by Nanchong people. On the Jialing River, there are a lot of small fishing boats and big travelling ships. We can go on a cruise(乘船游览)along the Jialing River. We can also watch the music fountain(喷泉)in the evening. On the river bank, many people exercise.
The West Mountain with twelve hills is about 480 metres high.(3) Across the square, we can climb the mountain on the stone steps. We can visit Kaihan Tower, Qiaozhou Memorial Hall and Wanjuan Tower. Wanjuan Tower was built in the Han Dynasty. A famous historian named Chen Shou lived there and finished writing *Records of the Three Kingdoms*.
Nanchong is an old city with a long history. It was not as famous as other cities in Sichuan.(4) The local government has taken action. New underground lines are on the way. It has become much more modern and beautiful. Welcome to Nanchong!
